William McCaffrey is a veteran of both the education profession and of service to his country. Bill became interested in teaching after four years of service in the U.S. Air Force where he was an emergency room medic and shift supervisor. Upon completing a tour of duty, Bill returned to his hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he earned a BA in biology and secondary education from Holy Family University.
For the next twelve years, Bill served as a teacher and administrator at a small, independent, progressive school in Philadelphia, where he taught math, military history and science. Bill was chairman of the school’s science department and eventually became the dean of students. He has worked extensively with teachers on curriculum development using the Understanding by Design Framework and assisted teachers in implementing Differentiated Instruction in the classroom.
Bill earned an MEd in educational leadership from Holy Family University and has a Principal's Certification in Pennsylvania. He is an avid student of Civil War history and a hard core road bicyclist logging 10,000-12,000 miles per year. Bill lives in Philadelphia with his wife and five cats. |
