Boyce M. Adams

Mr. Adams passed on June 21, 2006.
He is missed.

In a career spanning nearly half a century, Boyce M. Adams has been a dynamic and leading force in industry and public service in the southern New Jersey region. Most recently, he participated in the founding of Telenex Corp., a developer of high technology data communications and test control equipment, serving as Director and Executive Vice President until his retirement in 1996. Simultaneously, he has served on numerous boards for fundraising of non-profit organizations and as a member of advisory boards of local banks.

Beginning in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C., he became Founder and President of U.S. Operations for Wayne Kerr, Ltd., a British manufacturer of precision laboratory instruments. Adams's vision and leadership continued to be demonstrated in his roles as Co-Founder, Director, Treasurer and Executive Vice President for an array of innovative businesses in the high-tech industry. These included Adtrol Electronics, Inc., a manufacturer of high-speed digital recording and photo-optical reading systems. Adams developed several patents on electrostatic printing, photo-digital recording equipment and electronic devices for motor speed control. He served as Director, Treasurer and Executive Vice President of Spectron Corporation, a world leader in data communication and test control equipment. His insight, expertise, and industry knowledge have involved him as officer, director and investor in a variety of other high-tech business ventures. These included Vacor, Inc., a developer of an innovative vapor cooling system for the automotive industry and CS & S Corp., developer of an early mobile telephone system similar to the cell phones of today.

Community service has been a dominant focus of Boyce's life. He has been tireless in his commitment to The United Way, American Heart Association, New Jersey Housing Opportunity Fund and Moorestown United Fund. He has served as a Trustee for over 20 years for Ocean City Tabernacle Association, an interdenominational church offering summer worship services and music programs to over 34,000 people each year. Adams is a founder and President (1969 to 2003) of Moorestown Ecumenical Neighborhood Development, Inc. (MEND) a non-profit housing organization.

Boyce has been honored for his volunteer activities as the recipient of numerous awards. These include 1983 Citizen of the Year of Moorestown, NJ; 1984 Distinguished Service Award by Burlington County, NJ Office on Aging; 1985 Distinguished Service Award by the Burlington County, NJ Chapter of the NAACP; Proclamations of Distinguished Service from the NJ Board of Freeholders, NJ Assembly, and NJ Senate.

Adams has been an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown since 1959, serving as a ruling elder and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. His leisure time is spent as a member of the Moorestown Field Club, the Moorestown Rotary Club and Laurel Creek Country Club. He is a Life Member of the Union League of Philadelphia. Married to Elizabeth Grossman for 47 years (deceased October 2002) he has three married daughters and ten grandchildren. Boyce recently married renowned neuropathologist Lucy B. Rorke-Adams.
