Why Physics And Engineering

“I am formally trained as a physicist, and I find physical science covers enough ground to offer something for everyone. Engineering is an exciting puzzle with handholds for the practically and creatively inclined.”

Professional Experience

Levi worked as a teaching assistant (TA) in the physics department at the Colorado School of Mines and in the physics department’s machine shop. At the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), he worked as a TA in the materials department. While there, he also taught supplemental lectures for a graduate-level solid-state physics course. As an instructor for UCSB’s Center for Science and Engineering Partnerships, he developed and taught an original science course on patterns and forms in nature for high school students over the course of five two-hour sessions.

Levi also worked an instructor for The East Los Angeles Community Union (TELACU) Education Foundation’s Upward Bound program from June to July 2015. He developed and taught one math and two science courses for high school students from lower-performing schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District three times per week for five weeks. As a substitute teacher for the Santa Barbara Unified School District (SBUSD), he taught and assisted students of all grade levels.

Volunteer Experience

Levi volunteered with the UCSB Materials Research Laboratory for two years. He also volunteered at the UCSB Nanofabrication Facility’s Chip Camp for one year, where he guided middle and high school students through the process of building microelectric devices and designing experiments.

Hobbies

Levi enjoys going for ambling walks.
