Sandra Day O'Connor High School
“I found a passion for chemistry in high school. Chemistry is all around us and I love figuring out why the world works the way it does.”
Tyler’s first teaching experience came in college when he co-taught a leadership course for Northern Arizona University’s Orientation team. He also spent a summer teaching a chemistry course for a program at Northern Arizona University for low-income students from the surrounding Native American reservations to introduce them to science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Tyler began teaching at Sandra Day O’Connor High School during the 2016–2017 school year, where he was named as a finalist for his school district’s “Rookie of the Year” Teacher Award.
Tyler is involved in the Dove of the Desert Young Adult Group, a group at his church that does various community service projects. They work at homeless shelters, nursing homes and food banks over the course of the year and during a week-long trip over the summer.
Tyler enjoys hiking, backpacking and camping.
