Michelle Karp grew up in an Air Force family and lived in the Netherlands, Southern California and England before moving to Ohio at the age of 12. In high school, an inspiring chemistry teacher helped her realize how much she loved science. She earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Michelle went on to Boston College to pursue a master’s degree in secondary education. As part of a faculty assistantship position, she was involved in developing an integrated science high school curriculum on urban ecology, helping urban students relate the science they are learning to their own environments and communities.
Michelle began teaching chemistry at The Engineering School in 2009. She loves to sing and has gone on tour with her college choir to Estonia, Finland and Russia. |
