DEEPTI KHARE
MATHEMATICS TEACHER
Aspire East Palo Alto Phoenix Academy
East Palo Alto, California
Growing up in India, Deepti Khare quickly grasped the importance of education. “We had domestic helpers at home, and I held classes after school for them and their children. Using a chalkboard that my parents painted on a wall for me, I taught numbers and the Hindi alphabet. I was encouraged by my students’ eagerness to learn something new; it was refreshing to see them intrigued by education, a foreign idea to them.”
Deepti graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a bachelor’s in mathematics and earned a masters in education from Stanford University. “I wish to pay it forward by helping students at the high school level. We are experiencing a significant shortage of people educated in science and mathematics, fields that are less accessible to the economically disadvantaged.” Deepti believes that rich educational experiences should be available for all students.
Upon graduation she has worked at Mathnasium, a math tutor center, and at Sequoia High School in Redwood City. Deepti is looking forward to the opportunity to continue working with a dynamic and diverse student body. |
